The Jelly Bean Samsung Galaxy S3 reporting bonanza continues for the fourth day in a row, with good and bad news frantically blending in a bittersweet mix for tech users around the world.
After an unexpected halt in what looked like a pretty smooth European Android 4.1 rollout, Samsung restarted the upgrading in Sweden and followed it in France, Spain, Romania and Austria. Meanwhile, Canadian S3 users got another vague promise that enraged more than excited, New Zealanders got some empty hopes, and Americans… basically nothing.
Now we just received another set of good news, but seeing how the last couple of days went down, we should probably expect something wrong to happen, too.
For the time being, let’s just work with what we have though and see who’s joining the happy list. According to numerous reports around the web, Samsung is currently rolling out Jelly Bean for S3s in Switzerland, UK, Italy, Ireland and Austria.
408 Request Time-out
Following last weeks’ traditions, not all phones in those countries are getting JB, with each of them being treated with “butter” on one carrier branded version. Swisscom is the only mobile operator getting the upgrade in Switzerland, while Italy’s H3G, Ireland’s Three, UK’s H3G, and Austria’s 3 Hutchison updates seem to be connected by the carriers’ parent company, Hutchison Whampoa.
Among the five countries, Austria looks like the luckiest one, with today’s upgrade following yesterday’s A1 bump.
Those of you owning any one of the above mentioned S3s should have gotten an automatic prompt message to upgrade by now, but if that’s not the case, do be sure to manually check in “settings” or by using Samsung’s PC Kies software. Ultimately, you can find the software packages on Samsung-Updates.com or SamMobile.com.
We’re unsure about the upgrade’s exact “weight” and changelog, but some differences between this software leap and earlier ones could be spotted. Previous JB updates had the I9300XXDLIH build number dated September 28, while all the new ones (expect for the one hitting Switzerland) are I9300XXDLJ1 dated October 8.
So, who’s in a jolly mood today? And who’s pissed out of his mind? The floor is yours, but please try to keep it civil.
